who remembers me who do i remember lost in a hundred minds
clinging to uncertain tattered clothing texture coarse faded gray
unwilling to discard to give to the embers of the fires so sublime
within the loves lurks a little loathing of the doubts which prey
do i reside at all in these lost hearts even if only a flimsy shadow
have all the echoes been reverberated fallen to the canyon floor
or is an uncertain moment that starts as if a ghost in the window
and the shape of whom is delineated no matter how pitifully poor
where is the sharp and clear image of what once was an emotion
a cause of the yearning the learning and the burning of the soul
etched in the debris and the damage of the fateful fanciful notion
up to the time of the final spurning the entwined hands gone cold
i linger over the list of a catalogue my fingers count off each loss
hearing the last ever faint dialogue meanwhile adding up the cost
