Phil Mickelson denies misconduct claims, calls story 'drive-by shooting'

Phil Mickelson denies allegations of sexual misconduct reported by the golf outlet Skratch, including that he showed a nude photo of himself to the wife of a fellow professional golfer, according to a statement.

Mickelson's representative accused Skratch of publishing an “anonymously sourced drive-by shooting" investigative story in a statement provided to the New York Post. The story, written by Alan Shipnuck and published on June 26, said Mickelson showed Ashley Perez, then the wife of professional golfer Pat Perez, a nude photo of himself and then propositioned her in 2015.

Additionally, it was alleged that the 56-year-old Mickelson was banned from three California golf clubs — The Farms Golf Club, The Madison Club, The Bridges — because of inappropriate behavior towards women. A Golf Digest report from June 11 alleges Mickelson approached a woman at The Farms in the spring and initiated nonconsensual physical contact. She rejected his advances and immediately told her supervisors.

"Mr. Mickelson has never been expelled from a golf club. His membership has never been revoked by a golf club. Those decisions were his alone," Mickelson's representatives said in the statement.
