Meanwhile across the pond at Lords cricket ground today

Today is day one of the World Test Match Championship.
The two teams - Australia v South Africa.
What makes this match so special is not just the quality of both teams but the fact that the South African captain is Temba Bavuma.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/articles/c15n1knx9nvo

South Africa's first black African captain is preparing to take on Australia in this week's ICC World Test Championship final at Lord's.
While the Proteas achieved number one in the world Test rankings in 2012, beating the defending champions in a showpiece final would be the country's most significant cricketing achievement.
Few people tip South Africa to win, but 35-year-old Bavuma is used to dealing with adversity.
He is acutely aware of his own significance as South Africa's first black African batter and first black African to score a Test century as well as the country's first black African captain.

South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl.
At lunch it’s 67/4 which means RSA won the first session.

In the context of global issues re white supremacy, this is a big event.
Go South Africa.

Rabada takes five - OZ bowled out for 212 in their 1st innings .
Let’s see if RSA can avoid losing wickets for the rest of today
30 overs left today.
Australia has a great bowling attack.

South Africa need 88 runs to win with more than two days and eight wickets.
Captain Bavuma is hobbling with an injury but is playing like a true champion.
This will make all the global sports pages.
Of course the English fans at Lords are cheering for South Africa because English cricket fans hate Australia who have beaten them mercilessly for ages.😀

South Africa finally has a global trophy
They just won the World Test Champion’s Trophy at Lords
Led by Aiden Markram (136) and RSAs first black captain, Temba Bavuma (66) South Africa finally did not choke.

A Magnificent win - an historic day in South African sport.
Great match Australia. A stunning upset that I saw coming months ago.
The scenes at Lords are amazing.
Eff the racists. Bavuma, Rabada, Markram - the three stars here.
