and seriously, how much does the home crowd in tennis make a difference???

a rookie Canadian playing an established player in the rookie’s homeland??? Crowd is soooooo behind their player, and I’m just wondering how much it does get into the head of the opponent???

Canada is sooooooooo behind their player upstart, Victoria Mboko, and really she’s good but playing against Rybaikna??? maybe not yet there. She’s so good but a rookie. U S Open is gonna be wild in the women’s half.

A supportive and enthusiastic crowd would be a big benefit to some players.
Especially younger and inexperienced players who may need the boost.

Half of everything is psychology.

and not to say she isn’t a killer player anyway…..but her home crowd is helping her tons.

But may give her an edge and boost her performance.

Then again she might get performance anxiety with the increased pressure.
Or may lose focus with all the noise.
And have a decreased performance.

This is why top notch athletes hire very expensive sports psychologists to sort it all out.

There are world class athletes who are the best in the world but can never win a gold medal.
Some athletes who are mediocre players but win all the time.

I love seeing Naomi Osaka back playing well and having fun 🎾

Should be a good one tonight

Naomi Osaka on facing Victoria Mboko, who previously said that Naomi was her idol:

‘It’s really cute… I'm really honored… I always said I’d love to play someone that looked up to me in a way’ 🥹
