BMW here is Bay M Vey, No one uses the formal full name.

Volkswagen is Folksvahgen or FauVey VW

An aside. In German car brands are masculine. Der Ford, der Chevrolet.
Motorcycle brands are femine. Die Honda, die Yamaha.

When, like BMW and Suzuki, make both, der Bmw means a car and die Bmw means the motorcycle.
