Slate is an anagram for Tesla.

So are stale, steal, tales and least.

Why not one of those?

Where do these people get their brains? From a Pez dispenser?

how this can catch on unfortunately. It’s a bare bones traditional size single cab pickup for $25,000.
It has manual roll down and up windows. No heat or air conditioning and is rear drive only.
This is all from memory, I believe the range is 200 miles or even less. Charging from a regular plug is a great feature as some cars require charging units into the thousands of dollars. The truck is designed for the missing items such as heat, AC and auto windows can easily be added later on. Not sure about 4 wheel drive.
It’s designed for talented home mechanics to add these features.
I could be wrong, I don’t see these catching on to any major degree.

Its bare bone and you can customize it. Its price point is way lower than any suv/truck EVs.
I guess that's the market they are trying to capture.

They do have an extended range battery option which gives you 240 miles.

Even 150 is fine if it is your second vehicle and/or you use it to drive around daily and can plug in at home at the end of the day.

I've expressed my opinion on this...thing, elsewhere on DU. For fun, I searched for used electric cars in my area, max price $25k, no more than 18 months old. I found (omitting Teslas):

A Vinfast (lol, no thanks)
Multiple Nissan Leaf hatchbacks
Multiple Nissan Ariyas
Couple VW ID.4
Mini Cooper
Subaru Solterra
Fisker Ocean (another lol, no)
Several Chevy Bolts
One Toyota bZ4X
Couple Kia Niro Wind
Honda Prologue (I think this price was a mistake)

Pretty sure they all came with a/c, electric windows, Apple/Android, a warranty and a dealership network (except the Fisker and Vinfast). A couple of them that I actually looked at (online) had heated/ventilated seats, premium audio, lane keeping/safety stuff and sat nav.

Maybe the Slate will be a hit for fleet sales. Not sure why average people would buy them, or maybe I should say how many average people would buy them. Sure, they'll be all over the idiot "influencer" sphere. I can see the clickbait exclamatory BRIGHT YELLOW ALL CAP LETTERS WITH MANDATORY ARROW POINTING TO NOTHING IN PARTICULAR thumbnails already.

I dont need to have power windows and all that jazz that can break and cost tons to fix. Just give me a reliable truck.
