I may be the only Card fan sad to see Pauly D leave & I get that he never blossomed like we wanted

He never mastered the strike zone, and that was frustrating, I admit.

But he was a solid glove - a borderline Gold Glove level short stop (in my opinion) and that ain't nothing.

He was also good for 18-22 H.R.s a season as well. The strike outs stick in our memory more than the monster line drive homers do I guess.

I once saw Pauly hit a line shot off the facing of the Big Mac land deck so hard it that bounced back to the 3rd row of the left field bleachers - about 12 feet from reaching the field, off a bounce from the facing of the 3rd deck.

I saw McGuire and Pendleton hit a ball harder in St Louis and I saw Willy Stargell land in the 4th deck at 3 Rivers when I was a boy.

And that means Pauly's lien shot homer was the 4th hardest hit ball I've ever seen live. It means something to me.

Good luck in Toronto Paul DeJong, I will stay a fan.
