Guy went 6 for 6, with four homeruns, a double (that was a couple feet from being a 5th homer & would have been in 6 of the 30 ballparks) and a single, for 19 total bases. 6 runs scored, 8 RBI. That's a decent week in MLB!
He's a 22 year old rookie. He was having a good rookie year, but last night was special.

(10 posts)might have been the most productive offensive game of all time. the only downside is that rookie will probably never have another game as good as that. but I dont think it will bother him.

(74,070 posts)Joe Adcock had the record of 18 for many, many years. IIRC, he's the one whose double broke up the 12 inning perfect game Harvey Haddix had going.
He tied Shaun Green who had 19 in 2002. (I saw that on Sportscenter, but they didn't mention Adcock.)
As you said, might be the highlight. What casual fan remembers Shaun Green.
Green did hit .285 with 42 home runs that year (one of 3 seasons of 40+ homers) and hit pretty good the rest of his career. It was his 10th season, so he didn't have his career highlight in the first 15 minutes.
I saw Kurtz being interviewed on ESPN. Seems like a pretty good guy. I hope this is the start of something big, not an early pinnacle.

(74,070 posts)My Cubs have a good young first baseman, so they're probably not buyers.
