I just heard on the Cubs broadcast that Ryne Sandberg has passed away.

This one really gets me.

RIP, Ryno. You were one of the best.

I saw an article about him last week stating that he was still fighting the good fight against cancer.

Fuck cancer!

RIP Ryne. The worst trade ever made by the Phillies. Bowa and Sandberg for Ivan Dejesus January 1982. I always considered Ryne a Phillie. Hall of Fame well deserved. Cubs fans have a statue of him near Wrigley.

Not a Cubs fan, but in the summer during my teenage years/early 20s, I often had WGN on, listening to Harry and watching Ryne and company. Sad to hear.

Thank God he wasn’t named for his father, Derwent.
