SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT - A Utah Little Leaguer critically injured in a fall from his upper bunk in 2022 marked his third annual defy all odds day back at the world series complex in South Williamsport.
Friday marked the return of Easton Oliverson to the place where he suffered critical head injuries when, during his sleep on Aug. 15, 2022, he fell six feet from an upper bunk in dorms where series team stay.
He suffered a skull fracture and other injuries when he landed on a one-eighth inch industrial carpet with no padding that was covering a cement floor.
The then 12-year-old was rushed to Geisinger Medical Center near Danville where he underwent multiple surgeries. Doctors told his parents initially he had a zero chance of recovery.
The fact Easton, now 15, is nearly fully recovered is why his family has designated Aug. 15 as defy all odds day. He is a sophomore in school with a 4.0 average, plays baseball and wrestles.
The family made the trip to South Williamsport, as his father put it, because Easton earned it. They wanted him to see what he missed in 2022, he said.
Weve been planning it for a lit bit, Easton said. My family want me to experience this.

The Utah Little Leaguer critically injured when in August he fell from an upper bunk at the world series complex in South Williamsport will experience long-term effects, the familys attorney says.
Ken Fulginiti provided the update Wednesday on Easton Oliversons 13th birthday. The youngsters family had not in months posted any updates on Facebook.
This is what Fulginiti provided PennLive:
By all accounts, Eastons parents were told on the date of the incident that
Easton would not survive the surgery. They were literally told he had a zero percent chance of recovery.
The Oliversons, who are very spiritual people, gathered in prayer for Easton and he did survive. He has had a total of three craniotomies.
So, while they are blessed to have him to celebrate his 13th birthday, which happens to be today, and he is doing markedly better than the alternative, he will have issues the remainder of his life.
