Related: About this forumAm I the only one that cannot stand Tony Romo as a sports announcer ?
He just sounds like he has gravel in his throat, not to mention that he didn't do squat as a quarterback.

(28,835 posts)Including passing touchdowns, passing yards, most 300-yard games, most 3+ TD games.
That's on a team that's had some of the best QBs in history. That's a little more than "squat".
Highest QB rating in league history for QBs that didn't win a SB.
There's more to a QB than post-season success. Think Archie Manning was a bad QB?
Revisionist history is often funny.

(8,864 posts)In 13 seasons, Romo led the Cowboys into the playoffs just four times. His record in those games? An underwhelming 2-4, which included back-to-back one-and-dones in 2006 and 2007. In 2009, he returned to the playoffs and won his first game before losing the second.

It's more to that job than someone not liking the sound of his voice.

(18,515 posts)He sees the field very well and does a great job of explaining defensive coverages and offensive strategy.

(121 posts)They cant shut up, constant drivel about what to expect, or what just happened. Very few of them have a pleasant voice, too high pitched. I dont need to know every intricate detail about what just happened or should have happened!
Xavier Breath
(6,030 posts)he was such a sensation, and most everyone seemed to love him. Sounds like his schtick has become a bit tiresome, though.
calguy
(5,961 posts)and I like him less as a commentator.
Someone must like him, though, because it looks like his job is secure.

(29,321 posts)I have actually heard him contradict himself in the same series of downs.
"I think I'd go for it in this situation".
"No, I don't think I'd have gone on fourth down".
Over and over and over we have to hear what he would do in a given scenario.
