Silly story about the capital building:

A few years ago, the state decided to apply a new layer of gold leaf on the dome. An earlier governor had replaced it with gold paint as a money-saving measure, but the paint fades, looks tacky, and doesn't last nearly as long. Gold leaf is incredibly thin, lightweight and long-lasting, and it's difficult to apply in the open air. So the dome was covered with a tall, slender, similarly dome-shaped framework, shrouded in clear plastic. And its nickname in Charleston? The Con-dome!
