Once when I was traveling and had to my passport still in hand while approaching security, the TSA person told me to put my passport in the bin rather than waiting for me to zip it into my purse. Never will I do that again. I worried the entire time that someone would snatch up my passport.
I'm not really faulting the TSA person. I know they are supposed to keep the lines moving, but as they say; safety first.
