YouTube question

Our family already has a Spotify subscription but I just checked and it seems nearly all of the people discussed in this forum are on YouTube only. Same for the political people I follow. Thus I use YouTube a LOT.

But YouTube has become unbearable with ads lately for me. I would gladly sit through 5 minutes of ads if the program itself was uninterrupted, but the multiple ads throughout are what I'm finding unbearable. Mainly because I often listen when I'm cutting grass, taking a shower, and other things when it's not easy to press "skip" ad and thus ads go on and on and on. lol

Are any of you experiencing the same with YT? Do any of you have Premium and, if so, is it truly ad free or at least no interruptions during the program? I know it says ad free but I've also seen something where it says not all creators subscribe to the ad-free model so there may still be ads.

TIA

I put up with them, though they are as annoying as hell. No experience with premium, we already pay for too many streaming app thingies.

There are apps for devices and browsers on your computer that block youtube ads (or claim to)

Check your app store if on mobile devices

It successfully gets rid of youtube ads. It was recommended by another DUer and to them I am eternally grateful.

I see very few ads on Youtube.

I also use Adblock Plus and get far fewer ads on other sites.

I rarely use my cell phone for internet, so can't vouch for ad blocking programs for cell phones.

freetube.

https://freetubeapp.io/

The only reason I didn't rec this one first is that on occasion it will give you an http:// something or other error. They usually fix it pretty fast, though. On occasion you might have to do an update.

I have had no error problems whatsoever with Brave.

OTOH, it's nice to have both because FreeTube has this absolutely wonderful display page of all your subscriptions.

I love to just click it and see who has what out. Like right now, for example, I just learned about an interesting one from TwinTarot entitled Why was Trump's team so upset after meeting with Putin? A tarot reading

Like you, I watch while folding laundry, cleaning up the kitchen, etc., so it's nice to have this configured do you fon't have to click "skip."

one ad blocker isn't enough. I think I have at least 3 running at all times on Chrome. But I am going to go check out this Brave browser someone above was talking about!

They also have it for your phone. I don't see 99% of the ads anywhere, including utoob.

if the platforms just keep developing tweaks so that the blockers are less efficient. I also want to keep the creators and their income in mind. Thanks!

It's *SO* nice!

Some of these programs that I listen to will have an ad somewhere within (like The Why Files), but I can handle those.
