imo, the banality of evil is an ongoing sickness that takes societies' backward. This sickness is a kind of comfortable, familiar suffering that the sick join together to deny. The sickness (in racists, sexists, fascists) is a fear and loathing of "mere equality," of coexistence, 'live-and-let-live.' God forbid there should be Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
