Nazi-looted painting has just surfaced in Argentina

A Nazi-looted painting has just surfaced in Argentina 🇦🇷 — hidden in plain sight in a real-estate ad.

“Portrait of a Lady” by Italian painter Vittore Ghislandi belonged to Jacques Goudstikker, a Dutch-Jewish art dealer whose vast collection was stolen by the Nazis. Some 200 of his works were eventually returned, but many disappeared into the shadows.

This one appears to have been taken by top Nazi official Hermann Göring’s financial adviser, who fled to Argentina after the war. His daughter now lives in the house where the painting was casually displayed in the ad.

The family of Goudstikker is now fighting to get it back.

For Jewish families like the Goudstikkers, looted art is more than money. It’s a stolen legacy, torn away in the Holocaust. Some pieces were returned decades ago, but too many remain stolen.

The casual appearance of Holocaust loot in an Argentinian home is a stark reminder: these crimes didn’t end in 1945. Justice is STILL being sought — one painting at a time.
