On Morning Joe Mika Brzezinski had Scott Wiener on who was verbally threatened

and harassed at a Pro-Trans Rights event over Gaza, was run out of the event by protesters who surrounded him and screamed at him for "endorsing genocide in Gaza".

The Mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie responded as follows:

"As mayor, I can never accept hate directed at a member of our community. The language directed at Sen. Wiener yesterday was targeted, hateful, and antisemitic. In San Francisco, we welcome disagreement and respectful dialogue around issues many of us feel passionately about - but we cannot allow harassment and threats of violence."

Wiener responded that except for that incident, the rest of the weekend was inspiring and positive. He pointed out how he was a leader in expanding trans rights legislation, and had been attending this event for over 20 years, and what happened he said was not representative of most attendees at that event.

He pointed out he is Jewish, and has been against what the Israeli government has been doing.

Adding to the discussion, Mica brought in Jonathan Greenblatt from the ADL, and a former Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg

Greenblatt pointed out that Scott Weiner has consistently spoken out against the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza, and the abuses of the Israeli government, but the "only sin that Scott Weiner had committed was that he was Jewish".

Greenblatt also pointed out it was the "same sin Dan Goldman committed". Who a few days ago brought his 7 year old daughter into a coffee shop so his daughter could use the restroom, and how Representative Goldman was harassed and humiliated by a group of people there. Goldblatt pointed out that Goldman has also spoken out against the abuses by the Israeli government, and the protests against him are because he is Jewish, and believes Israel has a right to exist.

Greenblatt said "The Democratic party has an antisemitism problem, and he can define it in three letters, the DSA", and the "DSA's obsession with the Jewish state".

Greenblatt also said that this is not exclusive to those on the left, but also with those on the right.

Dave Aronberg pointed out that Weiner's position on Gaza was aligned with the position of the protesters, yet he was harassed only because he was Jewish. Aronberg said that even though Weiner's position on the current Israeli government was aligned with the mob that attacked him, but highlighted it didn't make them hate him any less, and that was simply because he was Jewish, and believes that Israel has a right to exist.

Aronberg added that criticizing the Israeli government doesn't make you antisemitic, anymore than criticizing trump doesn't make you anti-American, but this irrational feeding hatred against Israel and its right to exist has become such a litmus test to those on the left, and speculated that if Netanyahu is "voted out" this year, it won't change the view among those from the far left, because it is about his Jewishness, and that he believes that Israel has a right to exist.

with antisemitism. Across the board this is something that people have been confusing, and I think it works to a lot of bad people's advantage to keep those waters muddied about this. What the powers that be, and the ones committing the war crimes want, is for people like us to start pointing fingers at each other. We need to communicate and stop talking past each other.
