I think the human race would be better off if men, speaking in broad general averages, grew more skilled emotionally. Men tend to be starved for emotional nutrition which means regardless of how much they are loved (as much as ever) they do not develop the skills and self-regulation they should have.

By and large - of course thre are always exceptions - women are socialized to develop and utilize emotions, whereas men are socialized not to.

When I was on active duty in the Marine Corps, another officer, a male, asked me whether I self-identified as a women first and a human being second, or a human being first and a woman second. I don't remember using the words "of course," but I must have had to swallow them, because of course I identify as a human being first and a woman second. He replied, "I don't. I identify as a man first and a human being second." I couldn't think of anything to say other than "I'm so sorry," which I didn't say. but thought. I thought that must be like living in prison in one's own mind. I'm positive that was socialization rather than something he was born with.
