Aldous Huxley....Thoughts?

I just finished Island by Aldous Huxley and was very impressed but overwhelmed. Has anyone
else read it? He digs really deep into the meaning of God and life.

Loved Island.

And I do not have to like an author's ideology in all respects to enjoy the author's writing.
I don't approve of his some time role as a drug guru.
Still, his The Doors of Perception is worth reading.

There are folks with much worse ideologies who are worth reading.
Evelyn Waugh for example, who was a big fan of General Franco.

Huxley authored a book, "Doors of Perception" which referenced LSD. The theory is that the CIA pushed the drug on (sometimes unsuspecting) guinea pigs in some type of an attempt to broaden its intelligence-gathering efforts. As a side note, JFK and certain elements of the CIA held mutual grudges.

I read a bit of Huxley 40 years ago.
I never read any of his philosophical fiction though.
It sounds interesting.

If you're not already familiar with "The Church Of The Subgenius" be sure and give 'em a spin. No doubt you'd find the group interesting.

was such a huge fan that he chose The Doors as the name for his newly formed band.

If you listen closely, you can tell from the lyrics he wrote.
