the April cherry blossoms all around the Tidal Basin, a relatively big body of water.
Me, my sis, and a cousin. It was glorious!

Luckily here in NYC we have batches of cherry trees (and crab apples which I love, too) scattered all around many parks.

The biggest dedicated planting is in The Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Two rows facing each across a big green lawn. While you can't eat & drink in that spot people come to walk around, and sit on the lawn like their Japanese counterparts for cherry blossom viewing. There's always one weekend of a Sakura Festival full of Japanese culture!

Before that a few weeping cherries at the front of the area blossom first. I lived in Brooklyn for several years, and would always make usually two visits at that time.

I also have a cherry blossom bark dish from my mom. So lovely.
