I don't think we can search for users anymore. We used to be able to before DU3.

You can use your DU Mail Inbox to search for usernames. Just type a few characters into the Send DU Mail to:/Find Member text box to get a list of partial matches.

(34,857 posts)Just add your username and whatever you're looking to find. I don't think it pulls every post but a significant amount should show.
Example:
https://www.google.com/search?q=%22Nitram%22+%22Obama%22&sitesearch=democraticunderground.com
unc70
(6,457 posts)Combine democraticunderground yourid theirid in a search query to find threads where both of you posted. Similar things can find topics, etc.

(241,141 posts)It's in the top right corner and is easy once you get used to it. You can search for a keyword or any user name, including your own. And you can specify a specific forum, just the Main Forums or an individual Group. And you can also search for a specific date range starting with December 2011 which is when we moved to DU.3. The only thing is that it only shows so many (I think 250) posts at a time and if you want to search for something/someone else, you need to start over. Editing a previous Search will result in an error.
