Feature Suggestion: Collapse subthread

I love the software here and how easy it is to post, format and see responses. I don't know anything about programming or if this is even possible, but would it be possible to have a collapse subthread feature? I don't want to put people on ignore, but some threads get littered with unfortunate tangents and it's usually by the same people.

Would it be possible to have an option to collapse those?
