Star Memberships: The super-simple guide to making a one-time payment without a PayPal account (2025)

This discussion thread is pinned and locked. It is closed to new replies.

It is perfectly possible, and quite easy, to make a one-time Star Membership payment without having to use, create, or sign in to a PayPal account. However, PayPal introduces a few annoying quirks to the process, so here's the guide to getting past their nonsense and making a payment as a guest:

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have a PayPal account and you don't want to use it, make sure you are signed out of PayPal before starting this process.

STEP ONE: Go to the "Select your preferred method of payment" page, and select the One-time Online Payment option:

STEP TWO: On the following page, enter the amount that you would like to pay:

STEP THREE: You'll be taken to a PayPal page. On that page, click the "Pay with Debit or Credit Card" button. Ignore everything else:

STEP FOUR: Give PayPal an email address. This is just so they can send you a receipt. You can use any email address -- if you don't care about getting a receipt, then as far as I know you can even make one up:

STEP FIVE: Enter your payment information. This is required, because obviously you need to enter your card details so that the payment can be processed. Once you reach the bottom of the page, UNCHECK THE SLIDER that is trying to force you to create a PayPal account.

STEP SIX: As soon as the slider is unchecked, the magic happens -- the "Create Account & Pay Now" button is replaced with a button that says "Pay now as guest" -- hit that and you're done!
