Hunter versus farmer hypothesis

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunter_versus_farmer_hypothesis

The hunter versus farmer hypothesis is a proposed explanation for the nature of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It was first suggested by radio host Thom Hartmann in his book Attention Deficit Disorder: A Different Perception.
The hypothesis notes that humans spent most of their evolutionary history in hunter-gatherer societies, and it argues that ADHD represents a lack of adaptation to farming societies. Hartmann first developed the idea as a mental model after his own son was diagnosed with ADHD, stating, "It's not hard science, and was never intended to be."[1]
The hypothesis seeks to explain the "hyperfocus" aspect of ADHD, the distractibility factor in ADHD, the short attention span individuals with ADHD have for subjects that do not interest them (which may or may not trigger hyperfocus), and various other characteristics related to ADHD (namely, hyperactivity and impulsivity).[2]
A key component of the hypothesis is that the proposed “hyperfocus” aspect of ADHD is a benefit under appropriate circumstances and that, in the hunter-gatherer cultures that preceded farming societies, hunters needed hyperfocus more than gatherers.

In 1990 a shrink told me that was what I had. ADHD. I went on to find it a blessing, not a curses.
Learned some strategies to cop with the AD part and then, in my older years I put the Hyperactivity Disorder to good use. You could say I'm a very active 75 year old. From jogging 3 or 4 days a week to taking on all kinds of projects. I don't sit for very long, have to get up and move.
If you think you may be ADHD, I suggest you read Thom Hartmans books(A member of DU).

But I quit hunting meat a long time ago and it's not part of the cultural heritage I chose to pass on to my children. I'm mostly vegetarian. My wife is vegetarian approaching vegan.

I do like to watch birds, however.

She wanted to know how I could name birds for her. I told her it’s because I spend time in the woods. The only red meat I eat is deer.
I love to forage for nuts and berries. I use to leave the house hungry and come home full.
No thrill in the kill, no trophies, just one every few years. No beef or pork, mostly fish and fowl. I buy goat and lamb once in a while. Goat is the most eaten meat in the world.
