Camp tackles religious divisions

Dozens of school-aged children embarked on a spiritual journey this week that includes speaking with religious leaders and visiting London churches, synagogues, and mosques.

More than 50 London children from grades one through eight joined the fourth annual London Interfaith Peace Camp at King’s University College.

Focusing primarily on the Abrahamic religions, campers visited Temple Israel Tuesday, with an upcoming trip to Al Mahdi Islamic Centre Wednesday, and the Windermere on the Mount Chapel Thursday, among other religions institutions.

“In any place in the world, we find challenges finding co-operation between groups,” said Rabbi Debra Dressler of Temple Israel. “Especially at a time when there are some extremely violent groups out there doing things in the name of religion.”
