Waitress receives $10,000 tip after racist customer stiffed her

A waitress at a Red Lobster in Tennessee who last month uploaded a photo of a receipt on which she said a customer had scrawled a racial slur has received a $10,000 tip for her troubles.

Toni Christina Jenkins, a 19-year-old waitress at a Nashville-area Red Lobster, received a flood of online attention in early September after a customer wrote the words "None @#$$%^" where the tip and total should have appeared on a receipt, according to her account of the incident.

Her frustration caught the eye of AddictingInfo.org founder Matthew Hanson, Good Morning America reported, and he decided Toni deserved much more than a zero dollar tip. Hanson hosted a whirlwind fundraiser called Tips for Toni that raised $10,749 in 72 hours, according to GMA. He told the news outlet he wanted to send a message that racism will not stand.
