The interplay between Studs Terkel and John Sayles; John Mahoney on the witness stand talking about throwing games; John Cusack on the stoop telling the kids how much he loves playing the game, and on and on. It's one of those movies that whenever I come across it I immediately stop and watch it, and that's after countless viewings.

Right down to the guy singing the National Anthem in that quavery, theatrical style that was popular at the time.

Even the guys living on the ragged edge of poverty always walked out wearing a suit, a straw hat, and spectator shoes. Those were the days...
