He could do wondrous things even with a small role, like he had in Moneyball. That character could have been mere background, but he brought such gravity to it.

An incredibly, incredibly strong supporting actor. The kind leading actors love to work with. He could be in a film for mere minutes and still be one of the most memorable players.
