They are NOT entitlements! Entitlements are what tax breaks for the rich are.

5. I'm sick of CNN and MSNBC referring to Earned Benefits as Entitlements!

Why do CNN and MSNBC always show "Entitlements" in the chyrons when referring to Social Security, Medicare, etc.?? Chris Hayes, Rachel, Lawrence O'Donnel, etc. need to have a word with MSNBC's producers. Same for CNN.

9. There is nothing wrong with the words entitled or entitlement but around 1970 while Nixon was in power
Tue Mar 11, 2025, 05:10 PM

the negative connotation via the phrase "sense of entitlement" became pervasive so a word describing a legal or moral right to something was propagandized into a negative connotation.

"Sense of entitlement" apparently first caught on around 1970: Ngram –

11. Entitlement is something that you have a right to do or have, or the right to do or have something

It can also mean the feeling of deserving something without working for it.
It can also refer to a government program that provides a benefit to eligible participants, or the unjustified assumption of such a right.
It is the ambiguity that I have a problem with.
I assume my SS income is the money I and my fellow citizens put into a protected account for our retirement. I own it. I am not "entitled" to it by the graces of who ever happens to be in control.

1. Honesty, he's not emotionally capable of facing it.

2. He doesn't do math that doesn't already agree with his preconceived beliefs unless *rump or musk tell him that his beliefs should be different.

3. He can't bring himself to listen because of all the frightened, partisan voices in his head screaming at him, not to panic.

6. Why in god's name do these news people continue to allow people who LIE on their news programs?
Tue Mar 11, 2025, 04:34 PM

The American public would be much better served if they had unbiased experts on - you know, real economists, SSN experts instead of biased lying politicians. Who in their right mind believes one word uttered by Mr. Dagnummit? It is ridiculous, given the dire straights we are in, to continue to have people on news programs who insist on lying and misleading the public.

One of the things MSNBC does so much better is the excellence of their experts, analysts, and pundits.

I am truly baffled by some of these idiots who get elected to Congress.

The dumbing down of governing.
