They are incredibly transparent.

Go Tigers. I’m a Phillie Fan and an NL fan but have always been a Tiger fan. It was the Jim Bunning connection way back when I could get into Connie Mack Stadium for free in the third inning. A long time ago.

I did not know this.

In August 2023, The Washington Post reported that campaign finance and property records suggest Tuberville lives in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, instead of Auburn, as his office claims,[163] and has for almost two decades. The United States Constitution requires senators to live in the state where they are elected, but does not provide a minimum length of residency; Alabama requires a candidate to reside in the state for just one day to run for office.[164][165]

but I didn't know for how long. And I assumed that Alabama had some loophole likr that, because his living in Florida is pretty much common knowledge. At least what is sometimes called a secret de polichinelle - since "everyone" knows, "everyone" assumes you know already and you never get told about it.

Wasn't there controversy when Dr. Oz ran for senator from Pennsylvania when his main residence was really in a different state? And I know that when the lines of the district changed here in New York, national embarrassment Stefanik no longer lived within the district, so she said if she won, she'd move.

to live in the STATE which they represent. It does not require Congresspeople to live in the District they represent. But it doesn't define what it means to "live in" a State or a district. My state, Colorado, does not have qualifying legislation, instead relying on common sense and/or adjudication if necessary (so far, it hasn't been.) That's why Boebert was able to change districts. I am not just relying on my own knowledge for t
Which hat - I asked the Secretary of State and she explained.

I would assume that New York has passed legislation requiring Representatives to live in their district. I have lived in states where that is the case - I think North Carolina is one. But obviously not all of them have.

And it's explicit in either the OP or the source or another comment that Alabama defines living in the state as living in the state for one day. Which explains Mr. Potatohead.
