Western Recognition of Palestine "Largely Symbolic" But Highlights Israel's Growing Isolation

Canada became the latest Western country this week to announce it will recognize the state of Palestine, joining the United Kingdom and France, as well as over 147 other countries that already recognize Palestinian statehood. Palestinian writer and analyst Muhammad Shehada says that while the recent moves are "largely symbolic" and filled with caveats and loopholes, it shows that global opinion is rapidly shifting. He says that despite Israel's growing diplomatic isolation over its starvation of Gaza, the only thing that will stop the genocide is if the United States uses its leverage.

"Netanyahu and the Israeli government are terrified of Trump. They don't want to anger him," says Shehada. "The only thing it would take is Trump making a phone call to Netanyahu and saying, 'End this now.'"

4. Ok. I'll take that. There are much uglier things being said about Israel right now.

I’ll take immature. Maybe when Israel decides not to be a rogue state engaging in genocide I’ll retract my comment.

How about the U.S.'s growing isolation? Anything we say is largely symbolic. We have no credibility any more. And Hypocrisy Now has even less credibility. There are five of these crappy links on the home page. None of them belong here, any more than Fox News belongs here.

8. The U.S.' growing isolation is tied directly to our unconditional support for whatever Israel's extreme right wing

government wants to do, ethnic cleansing, genocide or not.

Oligarch owned and fascist loving Fox "News"; which you have already promoted twice here as a viable alternative to Democracy Now literally doesn't care whether Israel commits ethnic cleansing, genocide or not.

Democracy Now was covering the abhorrent conditions in Gaza; the world's largest open air prison long before October 7th while the vast majority of the corporate media all but ignored it.

If Israel under Netanyahu and the fascist members of his cabinet want to the keep the Israeli people in the dark about what is taking place in Gaza on their T.V. programming that's their business, but we're not trashing our 1st Amendment and ultimately sacrifice our democracy for them.

As I've said before if you prefer FOX post it, defend them, and honestly stand by whatever you believe in, I would find that to be more admirable than staying on the sidelines and throwing stones just because the truth makes you uncomfortable.
