Putin refuses to meet Zelensky because by doing so it legitimizes Ukraine as a sovereign nation rather than as a Russian territory. The only way that I see this war ending is with Putin's death.

The best that Zelensky can hope for with Trump is to be able to purchase weapons, defensive systems, and non-military assistance from the US due to Trump's transactional mindset. Zelensky will always be despised by Trump because he didn't manufacture evidence favoring Trump in the first impeachment hearing.
