My dad was a battlefield medic in World War II and his unit helped liberate Buchenwald concentration camp. I can’t begin to imagine how he would feel watching what is happening 80 years later. And I had wondered how this vulnerable illegally deported immigrant was doing. I was grateful to hear that he was alive and well, despite his horrific experience, but I only wish that he was allowed back in this country...

My Dad served in the Navy, was radio operator on aircraft carrier USS Ranger and he certainly had stories, but he served after the war. My grandmother always said that she was grateful that none of her three boys was the right age for any war. However, my grandfather served in WWI, delivered ammunition to the front on horseback. My grandmother said he didn't like to talk about it, but would tell some stories to the children.

And I sure agree about that young man, I'm just so glad that he survived his ordeal and can share his story now.
