Why we can't have nice things: Trump's corruption - Rachel Maddow - MS NOW

Rachel Maddow tells the story of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, which would be the biggest U.S. border crossing in Canada and one of the most important routes for trade in the entire world, except that Donald Trump refuses to open it. And it so happens that the family that owns a competing bridge gave a large amount of money to Trump's super PAC. - Aired on 06/15/2026.

And how does this make any kind of sense?? And I have to agree with Rachel Maddow that this is one beautiful bridge, qualifies as a piece of art besides making life easier for Americans on one side and Canadians on the other. And I was trying to think if any other president in my lifetime had ever engaged in such local and private matters, like who was allowed to attend certain universities or what their policies must be. All I can think of is warnings involving safety matters - so what is wrong with this convicted felon that he believes he can tell anyone else - anywhere - what they must do?!

I now think that he actually believes the BS he spouts, and he is convinced that he is the king and people should do whatever he demands. He is obously getting worse, which makes me scared of what he might do when he faces Democratic push back from congress, and the courts continue to shut down his plans. I'm afraid there will be more than ketchup flying.

Beyond ketchup, he'll just start another war somewhere or start rounding up citizens for not being his loyal subjects.
