Governor Newsom Celebrates 250 Years of American Independence - C-SPAN
California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) delivered remarks commemorating America's 250th birthday. He argued that the Founding Fathers' ideas are under threat from Trump. "What separates a democracy from a monarchy, from a dictatorship is the fundamental right to vote," said Gov. Newsom as he called for a "Declaration of Election Independence."
He continued to criticize the Trump administration and the Supreme Court. "Let's keep our democracy. Let's prove one more time that this is a government of the people. Happy Independence Day. Now let's go defend it," said Gov. Newsom. - Aired on 07/04/2026.
