Let's talk about Trump's Peace Prize, your wallet, Greenland, and Norway.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump's Peace Prize and your wallet.

In one of the most just absolutely bizarre installments of Trump's second term, he sent a message explaining why he doesn't feel an obligation to seek peaceful solutions to world issues. It's as absurd as you think it is. He didn't get the Peace Prize, but the implication that he's willing to take Greenland, destroy NATO, and therefore the US economy, and by extension your wallet, because he didn't get an award, isn't even the weirdest part.

Here's the message. "Dear Jonas, considering your country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped eight wars plus, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China. And why do they have a right of ownership anyway? There are no written documents. It's only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we have had boats landing there also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding. And now NATO should do something for the United States. The world is not secure unless we have complete and total control of Greenland. Thank you, President DJT.”

We're going to hit this with a little fact check and then come back to remind everybody of the big point. Let's start with this. This message is directed to the Norwegian Prime Minister. Norway's government doesn't actually award the Peace Prize. The independent Nobel Committee does. He's whining to the wrong person.

Trump has not ended eight plus wars. We've done fact checks on it. Most news outlets have done fact checks on it. And the White House can't even really say what the eight wars were supposed to be.

Russia and China aren't trying to take Greenland. And if they are trying to take a NATO territory, it would only be because they believe Trump's too weak to respond to an attack on the base there. or respond under NATO obligations.

There are no written documents. What? Yes, there are. Maybe most relevant to this discussion is the 1916 treaty of the Danish West Indies. That's when the US bought what is now known as the US Virgin Islands and that document includes the text, “the undersigned Secretary of State of the United States of America, duly authorized by his government, has the honor to declare that the government of the United States of America will not object to the Danish government extending their political and economic interest to the whole of Greenland.” NATO has never been closer to being torn apart since its founding.

Okay, back around to the main point. This is going to hurt the wallets of Americans for years to come. Trump is taking more economic opportunity from you. And it seems like his main driver is that he didn't get the Peace Prize.
