Let's talk about Trump deploying missiles and another carrier, maybe.... - Belle of the Ranch
Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump deploying defensive missile systems and another carrier, maybe.
When it comes to Trump's attempt to get some semblance of a deal with Iran, he continues to ratchet up the possibility of military force. While a lot of Trump statements can be written off as Trump's signature chicken and waffles foreign policy, the movement and deployment of military assets speaks more clearly than any Trumpian social media post.
As an example, Trump's talking about the possibility of sending another carrier to the Mid-East over Iran. That's something that's really meant to show his tough guy status to his followers in the US. It's not really a foreign policy move. Is there something in Iran the USS Lincoln can't hit, but another carrier could? There comes a point where air strikes really serve no purpose beyond making the rubble bounce. An additional carrier is either just to show for his base or he's starting World War III. I'm guessing it's just a show.
But other moves say Trump is absolutely considering using the carrier that's already there. In multiple locations at US installations across the Mid-East, Patriot and THAAD missile systems were deployed. Most people are familiar with the Patriot, but real quick, it's a defensive missile system that takes down missiles, drones, etc., and protects high-value targets. It generally engages stuff at lower altitudes. THAAD or terminal high altitude area defense defends a wider area at higher altitudes. As the name suggests, it's for ballistic missiles.
So, the systems going live and being deployed in the way they have obviously means something. The US is threatening to hit Iran again. Iran is saying they'll strike back. Iran's preferred method is to use drones and missiles. These systems are being deployed to intercept the inevitable counterattack that would occur if Trump launches another operation against Iran. If Trump was bluffing, the military wouldn't be putting these systems out. Somebody could say it's coincidence or an unconnected event planned in advance. Not really.
The way these systems are being deployed is in their most mobile form. These aren't meant to be a permanent layer of security. This is specifically for the Iran counterattack. Much like the movements we talked about before the first Iran strike or the specialized unit deployments we talked about prior to the Maduro grab, this is a sign that he is actually considering striking Iran again in an attempt to get them to give up their nuclear ambitions. And apparently now he wants to curtail their ballistic missile capabilities.
His posturing, threats, and actions might end up having the exact opposite effect. Regardless, at this point, it seems unlikely that Trump will end up with a better nuclear deal than the one he abandoned in 2018, unless he stops with the use of force stuff and switches gear to economic incentives. If it wasn't so dangerous, it would be comical that the one-time Trump's habit of making everything about money isn't in full swing is the one time it might actually work.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
