Let's talk about Trump needing China to broker peace with Iran.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump needing China to broker peace with Iran.

I'm not sure when this one will go out yet. So, let me start by saying this is not an April Fool's joke. It's just a prime example of how nations don't have friends, they have interests. And it's in China's interest right now to save Trump from himself.

As Trump's dreams of being seen as a great wartime president turn into a billow of smoke going up faster than the price of gas in the US. China and Pakistan have stepped in to try to broker a piece that Donald “Art of the Deal” Trump was unable to make. The Chinese have a massive amount of influence in Tehran. So it's a hopeful sign.

They published a five-point ceasefire plan on March 31st. The points are simple.

One, immediate cessation of hostilities. China and Pakistan call for immediate cessation of hostilities and utmost efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading. Humanitarian assistance must be allowed to all war affected areas.

Two, start of peace talks as soon as possible. Sovereignty, territorial integrity, national independence, and security of Iran and the Gulf States should be safeguarded. Dialogue and diplomacy is the only viable option to resolve conflict. China and Pakistan support the relevant parties in initiating talks with all parties committing to peaceful resolution of disputes and refraining from the use or the threat of use of force during peace talks.

Three, security for non-military targets. The principle of protecting civilians in military conflict should be observed. China and Pakistan call on parties to the conflict to immediately stop attacks on civilians and non-military targets and fully adhere to international humanitarian law and stop attacking important infrastructure including energy, desalination, and power facilities and peaceful nuclear infrastructure such as nuclear power plants.

Four, security of shipping lanes. The Strait of Hormuz together with its adjacent waters is an important global shipping route for goods and energy. China and Pakistan call on the parties to protect the security of the ships and crew members stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, allow the early and safe passage of civilian and commercial ships, and restore normal passage through the Strait as soon as possible.

Five. Primacy of the United Nations Charter. China and Pakistan call for efforts to practice true multilateralism to jointly strengthen the primacy of the UN and to support the conclusion of an agreement for establishing a comprehensive peace framework and realizing lasting peace based on the purposes and principles of the UN charter and international law.

That's it. Pretty simple. for those playing the home game. Yes, this is basically a return to the status quo that existed prior to Trump's attempted regime change operation. At time of recording, neither Tehran nor the US has agreed to the plan. We'll see how things play out.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
