Let's talk about Trump's tariff refund and MTG calling out his failure.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Trump's tariff refund and MTG calling out his failure.

Trump's first major tariff scheme failed miserably, and now the US is on the hook for more than $160 billion in refunds, plus interest. That won't be a small amount. The Trump administration opened a portal so companies could attempt to get their money back. US Customs and Border Protection rolled out the claims filing portal which is called the Consolidated Administration and Processing of Entries or CAPE.

Trade attorney Matthew Seligman of Greyhawk Law said that importers “are pessimistic that the government is going to make this easy. They're anticipating that the government is going to make it as difficult as possible to get their money back.” That's not exactly an unfounded belief. Trump isn't exactly well known for paying his bills. Some got a little boost to their spirits after the roll out started and the explanations made it sound relatively simple. There were minor glitches, but early reports seem to suggest that it's going more smoothly than anybody anticipated, but give it time.

It is worth acknowledging loudly that generally the cost of the tariffs were passed on to the average American and the refunds don't address that. They actually provide a boost to the companies who passed the unlawful Trump imposed tax on to the average American and collected money there and then the companies will get a refund for the additional costs that the American consumer already paid.

Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene didn't cut Trump any slack for his abandonment of the working class of this country. "The US government has to refund $166 billion in tariffs, PLUS interest. Trump said he would be paying Americans checks from tariffs and eventually even replace the income tax. So now not only are you not getting DOGE checks after he canceled DOGE, you're not getting tariff checks and paying the interests back on tariffs collected. And you are also paying $2 billion a day for Trump and Netanyahu's war in Iran. And you are paying on average $4 per gallon gas and inflation is rising again. The lack of humility and understanding the struggle of regular Americans is astounding to me. Trump and his lackeys demand loyalty and name call and bully yet Americans struggle more and more.”

Periodic reminder that MTG is still a far-right person who doesn't align with the overwhelming majority of people watching this channel. I don't know why anybody expected Trump to actually help the working class. That's not his bag. He doesn't have a record of helping the average American. I'm not sure why anybody expected it here. Trump doesn't try to make the average American's life better. He picks a scapegoat and makes their life worse so the average American feels like they're doing better by comparison. Trump gives the wealthy means and gives the working class memes.
