President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine remembers everyone who supports it, but is defending not only itself, but also Europe. He warned that if Russia is not stopped in Ukraine, it will move further.
Russia has already occupied parts of Moldova and Georgia, Crimea, and Donbas, and has subjugated Belarus. The aggression can only be stopped with real strength and principled resolve. For genuine peace, respect for Ukraine, sovereignty, security guarantees, and EU membership are needed. - 04/28/2026.

(2,994 posts)Really, isn't there enough clickbainting in the world already? Let's not add to it here.

(3,467 posts)The thumbnail here is essentially what he's been saying all along. Nothing new or sensational.

(59,919 posts)Whether you like it or not, news now comes from clips like this. And to compete, these clips have to have sensationalistic headlines.
Rhiannin ALWAYS summarizes what the clip says. If you don't want to watch, then don't.
But as we all bemoan the fact that the right owns most media, we need to stop insisting that the successful players in the one media genre available to us stop doing what makes them successful in that genre.
Get over the ick. This is what we need.

(2,994 posts)I didn't see anything in that post that sounds even the slightest bit sensational or even noteworthy.
Enough of this drive-by video dropping. This is wasting people's valuable time. I visit this site to AVOID that kind of shit.
Scrivener7
(59,919 posts)And she provided a summary. If you don't find it worth your time, move on.
TheRickles
(3,467 posts)It's a summary of the generic points that Zelenskyy has been making for several years now. Important, but not newsworthy that I can see. And to be fair, I haven't watched the video for those reasons.
We on DU are not competing with the right-wing media in an attempt to replace Fox News. We're supposedly showing a different way of doing business, one that uses truth and insight to spread the message, not clickbait. We don't have to play by their rules, because we're not trying to convert MAGAs (or are we?). We're aiming for those who want to learn more, so I'm OK with Marquis of Queensbury rules.

(2,994 posts)I don't come here to be spoon-fed by a self-appointed influencer. I come here to get a quick synopsis of the news without the hysteria and clickbait.
I am not opposed to video format. I am opposed to deceptive, time wasting posts.
Scrivener7
(59,919 posts)this video that has some pretty important things in it.
That darn Zelensky. Always with the hysteria and click bait.
TheRickles
(3,467 posts)IMO, that term was pretty clearly aimed at the YouTube poster, War and Politics 24.
But my main point is that there's a lot of excellent info out there that is hidden behind clickbait titles (like Meidas Touch). I appreciate when posters here, like Rhiannon and TexasTowelie, add summaries to help us decide. It's just that this time around, the summary wasn't informative and I opted out. And now I've spend more than the 15' of the video in sorting out my responses here! So it goes.
Scrivener7
(59,919 posts)anywhere to be found.
So yes, he was calling Zelensky a hysterical click-bait self-appointed influencer.
Instead of spending your time dismissing the video, it would have been much better spent watching it. Or just decided you didn't want to watch it and move on.
Also, you say the summary wasn't informative enough for you, so you opted out. That's where it should have ended. You are really not owed more by the person providing the post.
TheRickles
(3,467 posts)That's who I have an issue with, and I'm 99.9% sure that's not Zelensky, and I'm also sure that Bluetus didn't intend to imply that it was Zelensky. I gather that posters on DU have to use the original image or thumbnail from YouTube or wherever, even when it's very misleading. That's when the summaries can be so helpful. This particular summary wasn't helpful to me - that's all I'm saying.
Scrivener7
(59,919 posts)like you want something more from the OP here. If you didn't, you would simply have moved on.
So what more than that summary, whether or not it is helpful to you, do you want the poster to provide to you?
And who do I think wrote that headline? Someone who wanted to get out the message about this new weapons alliance that we're not part of.
TheRickles

(59,919 posts)They are not thinking about DU when they do it. They are thinking about the wider world, the very audience we at DU have despaired of reaching for 40 years, saying rightly that the right owns the media and therefore we can't get our message through.
For 40 years we have complained about this without coming up with a solution. Well, this is the solution.
Not everyone follows news like you do. And not every video with a sensationalist headline is worthless. For example, the formation of an alliance between Ukraine and European and Arabian countries to develop new weapons systems, an alliance to which the US will not be a party, seems pretty significant to me. It WILL be news to many.
And I can't help but notice that all those who are dismissing this video have not watched this video. Which is ridiculous.
If you don't want to watch the video, by all means don't. Rhiannon has given a perfectly good summary with which you can make that decision. But I have no problem with us supporting those outlets who are doing the work we have been wanting to do for 40 years. And if Rhiannon is bringing us a video, even one with a sensationalist headline, I know there's something worthwhile in it.
I hope she continues to do so.
