Let's talk about Hegseth losing Republican Support.... - Belle of the Ranch

Well, howdy there Internet people. It's Belle again. So, today we're going to talk about Hegseth losing Republican support.

It seems like Republicans in the Senate are having serious buyer remorse over the Secretary of Defense. Pete Hegseth has replaced a number of top generals. His policies are causing dissension in the ranks. His claims about how things are going with Iran are leading to investigations. And we're months into a conflict the administration said would take weeks and there's no real end in sight. While most see the US in a weaker position than when it started.

A number of Republicans in the Senate are speaking pretty openly about Hegseth now and their hope that he finds something else to do and saying if the vote was taken today, he wouldn't get confirmed. Honestly, some of them seem ready to tell him, "Leave town, tonight, right now. And when you're gone, stay gone. You've lost your Los Angeles privileges. Deal?" Keep in mind, I'm talking about Republicans, not Democrats.

Fresh off his win against Trump over the Federal Reserve and may be emboldened by it. Republican Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina pointed out Hegseth's inexperience. He said Hegseth was an infantry officer in the National Guard who managed “30 or 40 people” then went on to explain, “now he's got an organization that's much larger, much more complex than anything he's done.”

This is probably a huge part of the problem. As a junior officer coming in, the saying is that good NCOs train their lieutenants without them ever knowing it. And it's a true statement because coming in as a new LT, you don't really know anything -- the sergeant does. A good LT will let the sergeant train them.

Going in as a new SecDef who doesn't know anything, he should have let the generals train him in the exact same way. Instead, he fired them.

Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa chairs an important subcommittee of Senate Armed Services. She said, "I have the greatest admiration and respect for General Randy George. He's probably one of the finest officers the United States Army has ever produced. It was a mistake for Secretary Hegseth to dismiss him.” This is the general who I gave the bio of because it's frankly insane. I'll put the link below.

I could give quotes from congressional Republicans about General George's ousting for probably 10 minutes. From Senator Mike Rounds to Senator Lisa Murkowski, they aren't happy.

The Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Roger Wicker has a whole other issue informed by his time in the military. Getting rid of the flu shot. That seems to really bother the former lieutenant colonel who probably understands a little bit about readiness.

Now, it looks like Democrats are going to open an investigation into the Iranian strike on the US base in Kuwait and Hegseth's depiction of it when compared to, you know, the troops who were there. There will be a link below on that, too.

I know there's a habit of trying to predict the next person to be shown the door in the Trump White House. I know who the Senate would pick. Some of them are comparing him to Kristi Noem.

Anyway, it's just a thought. Y'all have a good day.
