1. Affiliate relations. Affiliates benefited from the stability and popularity of Colbert's show. This leaves them in the lurch. It will affect their bottom line. Just think of as simple a thing as local news, the affiliates' cash cow, the programming that brings in the all-important auto-dealership advertising dollar. Audiences would sit through the 11 o'clock news as they waited for Colbert to come on. Now they can make it an early night, or binge-watch Bridgerton instead.

2. Content creation. The watchword in entertainment now is content. The Byron Allen model is not creating valuable content for the network or successfully promoting their evergreen content, like Colbert did by boosting shows like Tracker, even if he often did so ironically.

On those two issues alone, this is a huge loss for the network.

Bravo to Jimmy Kimmel for again speaking truth to power. The MAGAs that now control CBS seem to be clueless that the general public is on to their scam.
