Let's say that Andrew Cuomo decides for an independent run for the General Election.

Add his name to Mayor Eric Adams (also running as an Independent) and Mamdani.

Splitting the opposition votes against republican nominee, Curtis Sliwa.

Potentially, to win, Sliwa could garner 26+% of the vote and become the Accidental Mayor of NYC, with the slimmest plurality of record. That's right. A little more than one-quarter of the votes. Add to the calculation that maybe one-half of registered voters actually vote. That would make Sliwa the Mayor with a little more than one-eighth of the vote.
