The only time I've seen this is the 70s. OPEC had tripled the proce of offshore oil overnight and that had caused high inflation as it began to churn through every part of the economy. Since that evil old fuck Nixon was in office, they ran a PR campaign blaming those higher prices on greedy unions and other greedy workers, made the upper middle class feel all smug as we all started losing our jobs. I can remember the unemployment line snaking down two city blocks in Boston and we only had to turn up once every two weeks. They didn't bother asking us about job interviews, thre was no work to be had. Ptrices were way up, jobs were way down, and the stock market was going nowhere. That is what we're headed for if Putin's Pet Pig doesn't pull his head out of his ass on blanket tariffs.
