House Democratic Leaders Hold News Conference on New January 6th Committee
"January 6th was the worst of wrongs
in this country, we don't choose criminals over cops," said Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) after House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY) announced the lawmaker to be the intended leading Democrat on the House Republicans' newly announced January 6th investigative subcommittee.
The leader's announcement came during a press conference from Capitol Hill where he was also joined by other newly announced members, Reps. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), as well as House Judiciary Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who previously served on the first January 6th Committee.
Additionally, when asked about government funding, Leader Jeffries said, "Democrats are prepared to work together to enact a bipartisan spending agreement that meets the needs of the American people
We will not support a partisan spending bill that continues to rip away health care from the American people, period." - 09/08/2025.
