I hope he runs for higher office again. He's got some experience now and we really need him.

(12,786 posts)Who decides what gets built and how it gets built? Americans have been so divided, by design, realistically, how do we ever move forward, together?

(41,085 posts)In the 3rd largest country on the planet, rebuilding will always be much harder than the teardown it will have experienced, for sure.
Presumably, such rebuilding will be prioritized, in my political opinion, by those who represent their voters -- us, the Democratic Party. With a trifecta won, we know the experts and can set priorities for the governmental agencies and essential rights and services to Americans at large.
I've heard Jeffries and other Democrats working on our Project 2026, which will purge trumpcult, rebuild and harden the enforcement of rule of law in the 3 branches of government.
It's broad brush right now -- we're in the middle of fighting a fascist dictatorship -- so at this point one shouldn't have to know all the details of our future restoration plans before one commits to good candidates who'll implement them.
So who do we start with? Folks like AOC, Frost, Newsom and especially Pete Buttigieg, who'll fire partisans and American non-voters up!

(41,085 posts)So what has Project 2025 dismantled and destroyed?
Read its four pillars and you'll know which ones they are.
We've done nothing but talk about these destructions since Jan 20, the felon's inauguration day.
Legal experts say it would undermine the rule of law,[13] the separation of powers,[5] the separation of church and state,[14][12] and civil liberties.[5][13][15]
Some critics have suggested Project 2025 is based on personal vengeance, or that its proposals for national conservatism are merely an "attempt to intellectually retrofit a rationale for Trumpism".[8]
Compared to previous Republican agendas, Project 2025 contains more elements of culture war and advocates for wider implementation of policy across the federal government.[117]
While some proposals might require the support of Republicans in Congress[8] or favorable rulings from the Supreme Court, much relies on executive authority.[citation needed]
Hope that helps.

(41,085 posts)is flawed or failing in some way, it's up to citizens to "mend it, not end it," and to not "throw the baby out with the bathwater." He's one of those "let us reason together" kinds of politicians. What MAGA think -- their oversimplified view of big scale systems -- is that if something in government isn't working well enough, just get rid of it and replace it with what/whoever the boss wants -- rule of men over rule of law. So no, he's not totally going along with any MAGA view of institutions.
