However there is disagreement as to whether a sitting President can ever be indicted. Trump seems to think he gets a free ride while he's still in office. It's never happened before, and there would be lots of discussion and running to the Supreme Court for rulings. If the SCOTUS rules one way, can the NY Supreme Court rule another way? Who knows.
I don't know about you, but I hope they test this and decide once and for all, and get this done. The longer Cheeto stays in office the more fucked up we're getting every single day. We have to get him out whatever way we can.
After Trump is out of office - either by impeachment or by losing the next election - his goose is cooked. He's going to jail for life.
