The semi-unwritten price for expecting loyalty from young voters toward Democrats running in general elections is to accept that there may be Democratic primary contests from time to time where different voices are competing for their support. Younger voters tend toward being more independent, and that can/should be accommodated. However all who enter a Democratic primary must be pressed to vow their support for the eventual winner, should it not be them, and the same goes for their supporters.
