Adams says 'God' told him he'd be mayor [View all]

Politico

NEW YORK — Mayor Eric Adams declared that his rise to the mayoralty was driven by God as he launched a new City Hall office for faith-based initiatives Thursday.

Adams gave a fiery speech at an interfaith breakfast at the New York Public Library, before signing an executive order creating the Office of Faith-Based and Community Partnership.

Adams described himself as “perfectly imperfect,” a phrase he has frequently used in recent days when asked about missteps.

POLITICO recently revealed that Adams sometimes orders fish when dining out, despite claiming he adheres to a plant-based diet, wrote a book about it and even centers climate and education policies around veganism. The story sparked a frenzy on Twitter while other outlets jumped on the mini-scandal, dubbing it “FishGate.” Last week the mayor was forced to acknowledge he sometimes strays from his supposedly strict food regimen.
