5. Everybody loves to dump on SF when it comes to crime.

When I lived in Phoenix, I lost two cars to theft and had a stereo stolen from another one. When my stripped car was found in a farmer's field on the edge of the city, it had a few of the thief's tools in it and the cops wouldn't even check for prints.

Also, there were lots of drive-by shootings in the city. My best friend was shot in the heart and died while trying to break up a fight. And to top it off, a human head turned up in a canal one block from my house. I didn't even live in a bad neighborhood. I could go on and on.

I've lived in SF for seven years, and I have to laugh when I hear people complain about the level of crime here. Oh yeah, I learned years ago you don't leave anything of value in plain sight when you park your car in ANY city.
